Unintended Pregnancy
Online Birth Control Education
All couples participating in sexual intercourse need to recognize the possibility of facing an unintended pregnancy. Except for abstinence, no single birth control method is 100 percent effective even when used consistently and properly. At SHS, pregnancy counseling is available by appointment in the Women’s Clinic to discuss confidential information regarding medical care, financial resources and community services.
Pregnancy Testing At Student Health Services (SHS)
Pregnancy tests are available at SHS and pregnancy can be detected 10-14 days after intercourse. Blood pregnancy tests are not needed for routine pregnancy testing and take longer to get the results. Home pregnancy tests are accurate and can be purchased over the counter at the SHS patient registration desks. Students may make same day appointments (530.752.2349) for pregnancy testing.
