Mandy Li, MPH, CPH
Mandy Li is the Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug (ATOD) Risk Reduction Coordinator at Health Education and Promotion. Mandy directs programs that work toward preventing and reducing alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs issues in the student population, developing strategies to aid students in making informed decisions in these areas. Mandy is our campus lead for the Safe Party Initiative that advocates for the use of environmental management strategies to reduce student intoxication and related harm. She has a Master of Public Health with an emphasis in Epidemiology, a BS in Human Development, and a BA in Psychology all from UC Davis. Mandy has also interned in the Office of the Surgeon General to promote healthy living, researched health and safety policy in the California State Capitol, and directed a state and county level mapping project for the TB Branch, California Department of Public Health. Mandy is a member of the Picnic Day Working Group, Davis Neighbors’ Night Out Planning Group, the Student Affairs representative on the City-UCD Student Liaison Commission, and the chair of the Davis Alcohol and Other Drugs Advisory Group (DAODAG). Polly Paulson, MPH, MA, MCHES
Polly Paulson is the Health Promotion Supervisor for the Health Education and Promotion (HEP) department. Polly provides programmatic and operational oversight to HEP’s health promotion programs, services and initiatives in the areas of wellness, physical activity, nutrition, stress management, mental health, sexual health and risk reduction for alcohol, tobacco and other drug problems. Prior to joining HEP at UC Davis, Polly was a youth violence prevention academic fellow with the Injury Control Branch, California Department of Public Health. Polly also previously worked in college health promotion for the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Polly has an MPH from the University of Michigan School of Public Health with an emphasis on Health Behavior/Health Education and Environmental Health and an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from Michigan State University. She is an American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists certified sex educator and a certified HIV Prevention Counselor with the Office of AIDS, California Department of Public Health. Polly is also serving as a Health Sciences Clinical Instructor WOS at the School of Medicine at UC Davis, Secretary for the Pacific Coast College Health Association and on ACHA's Publication Review Committee that is revising the Standards of Practice for Health Promotion in Higher Education (SPHPHE).
Jason Spitzer, MPH
Jason is the Sexual, Social & Stress Health Educator at Health Education and Promotion (HEP). He supervises the Sexual Health & Stress student team, oversees the condom access program, coordinates anonymous HIV testing services on campus and organizes health promotion activities related to STI prevention and stress and sleep management strategies. He has received his degrees from UC Davis: a BS in Managerial Economics and a Masters in Public Health from the UC Davis School of Medicine. Prior to working for UC Davis, Jason worked for CommuniCare Health Centers as an HIV Case Manager and as an HIV/STD Prevention Specialist for the Yolo County Health Department. Jason also is a certified HIV Prevention Counselor with the California Department of Public Health, Office of AIDS, and serves on the Speakers Bureau of the Chancellor’s Committee for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Intersex Issues.
Tamara Stirling
Tamara Stirling is the Program Assistant for the Health Education and Promotion (HEP) department. Tamara manages the HEP Front Office and provides support to the Health Promotion Supervisor and Health Educators at HEP. After coming to UC Davis from the private sector, Tamara worked in several campus departments, most recently as the contract services representative at Student Housing and as payroll and personnel assistant with the Office of the Vice Provost and Facilities Management department. Tamara’s background includes office and property management, human resources, marketing, event planning and customer service. She has a BA in Social Science from Chapman University. Tamara enjoys working with people from all backgrounds and embraces the opportunity to serve the diverse student community through her role as HEP Program Assistant.
